VICTORY GUNDAM
i don't know much here, the main character's an even younger kid than usual, and there's a wheel at some point. i know it's way in the future of the universal century, i know it's apparently super dark and depressing and i don't think it's very popular. i liked zz, so i'm going to give it a shot.
Episode 1: The White Mobile Suit
- this is a pretty good op, this kid already looks like he's having a TERRIBLE time
- this opening narration could have gone in front of any other gundam. very generic
- the opening fight is incredibly disorienting, i've seen this redhead before and i think the guy that stole the mobile suit is the main character?
- these mobile suits are noticably smaller than we've seen in previous shows
- it's not as detailed as the ova's or movies, but this does look really nice for a tv anime
- really cool move with the gun on a string
- oh that mobile suit just straight up has eyes
- i like katejina, she has a good head on her shoulders
- the factory stuff will make sense later i assume
- i saw marbet and was like "oh, she's cool!" and then immediately she passes out
- mask man is chronicle asher
- league militaire is where uso's from?
- those are gundam's if i've ever seen one!
- i like these kids already
- it's fun that chronicle asher wears a mask because he thinks earth is too dusty
- this setting is really cool, i like seeing how shitty and rundown this (i assume) military base it. them having to dry the diapers right in front of the elevators is good
- these mobile suits are a little goofy, but i feel like this is definitely not unaware of how young these child soldiers are
- i really like the animation and art style
- i like katejina and marbet working to raise the catapult, it's tense and this dogfight is well animated
- woo! it's the gundam!
- this fight is really good
Episode 2: The Meeting with the Machine That Day
- i like this show's vibes
- ok so we now get the real first episode
- chronicle and marbet were dogfighting back before the gundam was finished
- marbet gets shot in the leg
- man, good thing uso's gloves have so much grip
- very funny to see uso breaking into the cockpit and kicking asher out
- this is like early zz
- this mobile suit is impressively waterproof
- asher is the queen's brother. queen of bespa?
- hang on, is this eyecatch an animation?
- aww, katejina and uso are penpals!
- uso's living on earth illegally? also these guys are assholes, you can't just keep eating the last ham someone's mom prepared for them!
- zanscare is using guillotines? but also they're monarchists?
- i like how thin the beam saber is
- didn't mention it last time but the ed is also a banger
Episode 3: Uso's Fight
- uso, what'd you think would happen? you're in a bespa suit as bespa are attacking the city!
- jeez, this is already depressing. seeing all these people defending their homes get blown up after trying to kill a kid in self defense
- these combinations are fairly silly, but i like them
- jeez, that's a big explosion
- i like katejina, and her dad sure sucks
- christ, this is brutal
- i imagine we're going to be seeing more of "oh my god, this pilot was a kid???" than even 0079 had
- i love what we're seeing of zanscare
- this show rules so far. the subway scene is really good
- this fight is good
- i like seeing the people working together to fire the beam rifle without a mobile suit
- so far i don't really get why this show has the reputation it does, so i guess it's not just a rough start like zz had
Episode 4: Who We Are Fighting For
- asher seems way worse at his job than char was. more of a jerid really
- why does uso have all these computers? what were his parents up to?
- this basement is cool
- i like asher and his buddy here, they both suck a lot
- i wanna know more about what being illegal immigrants means in this context
- this is stressful! i mean, i know these guys are mostly all fine, but yikes!
- i wonder if uso will change his mind on the whole "it can't be helped" thing
- this fight is good and tense
- i like that all we're seeing of the league militaire is old dudes and people under 15
- i like the hanger add-on to the core fighter. still think combining suits is silly, but there's clearly thought put into how it works here
- the core fighter with the hanger looks cool
- oooh, uso hearing his enemies dying screams is already clearly affecting him
- and now we're caught back up to the end of episode 1!
- stucture aside i'm enjoying this!
Episode 5: Godzorla's Counterattack
- the much maligned sequel to char's counterattack
- imagine being tapped with a finger that's bigger than you
- i love all the logistics stuff here
- everyone else: jesus christ, we let a thirteen year old fight our battles for us???
uso: is that bad?
- oh god is asher gonna be creepy about shakti?
- so this is godzorla
- katejina just asks uso how it felt to kill
- this show is pulling no punches, huh
- katejina keeps asking the hard hitting questions. obviously uso shouldn't be involved, but this is gundam so that's not gonna work out
- but uso doesn't want his friends to die, so he's going to keep fighting
- i like the thought being put into when to launch the different gundam parts
- ohh, the bespa people are following the godzorla to do recon
- they just capture gary, i was expecting uso to have to splat him
- they do very badly need to leave before getting caught
- oh, asher's still there. this is going to go poorly
- shakti recognized him?
- i like that these suits don't really feel like the zaku at all
- asher saved shakti, i wonder where this is going?
Episode 6: A Fighter's Glory
- marbet's abilities seem to fluctuate. if she can swing around the back of a truck she should probably be able to fly a fighter
- katejina clearly dislikes needing to work with the league, but she's still manning the guns
- i like asher's espionage. you didn't need to hit the guy, he was already leaving!
- i like the energy shield on the front of the fighter
- the partial transformation is a pretty cool move
- aw man, asher just showed up
- kidnapping count and katejina is a bummer
- i like how now you can't destroy the suits because they'll detonate, killing everyone around them. i'm sure it was to make the show feel less violent, but it adds a wrinkle to things. the only way to get a one hit kill is with a level of precision no one can count on reliably
- i love the beam rifle attached to the truck
- i love the zanscare guy yelling about how the gundam isn't a symbol of resistence, because zanscare is resisting the earth federation. that may be true, but the earth federation isn't resisting you, that's all the league
- i like katejina, and i like asher not really knowing what to do with his hostages now that he has them
- *kurt russell voice* nobody trusts anyone anymore, and we're all very tired
- i respect that shakti hates it here, but where is she going? there's no way that house is sustainable with all this fighting going on
- this guy sucks
- god damn! just shooting your underling for being a fucking creep! respect!
- the fighting is all pretty good
- this guy realizes he almost killed, and then lost to a 13 year old and he immediately breaks down and kills himself. this was the show they made when they wanted to
Episode 7: The Sound of the Guillotine
- one of my favorite songs by the coup
- asher finally reuinting with the main group
- interrogation pills, huh?
- uso is already so traumatized, i don't think kamille reached this point until the last 10 episodes or so
- oh my god i love these stupid looking bikes
- i love all the zanscare guys deciding they don't want to fuck with the kids
- i like griffon a lot
- this plan where they're having one guy act sick is super gross but also pretty funny
- the league just openly using child soldiers while zanscare decides they don't want to touch any children at all is a good dynamic
- i love how instead of a ship like the white base, the league militaire in victory gundam just has a couple flatbed trucks
- "BY REVIVING THE BIKES OF THE MIDDLE AGES AND THE AGE OLD TRADITION OF DRIVING I'VE NOW BECOME UNSTOPPABLE!!!"
- this new guy seems like he'll be important.
- i love how the victory looks with only the core and the boots
- could you not tell this was a mobile suit without the arms?
- why does only zanscare know about the history of the gundam?
- oh that's uncomfortable. not a fan of this torture scene!
- i don't think you actually dislike it given everything
- uso trying not to kill people is very charming
- asher wants this guy dead, i think he may get garma'd
- fucked up to make uso watch the guillotining!!
Episode 8: Fierce Fight, Attacking in Waves
- oooh uso is not doing well
- it really feels like you're asking him to murer people, but if you say so
- marbet pointing out they can't exactly make him pilot it at gunpoint is good
- the zanscare guys going 'shit, we have to fight a gundam? that seems bad' rules
- this enemy faction drama rules
- not even zeon would touch gibraltr!
- hmm, i wonder what auntie maria's deal is????
- wow, she looks just like the leader of zanscare!
- uso's having a time of it
- uso might be doing worse than any previous gundam protagonist ever was (outside kamille post-zeta finale, but that was newtype stuff)
- this is definitely the best looking tv show so far
- marbet talking about how uso's truly gifted. god i can't believe gundam didn't have any female main pilots until witch from mercury
- the ability to eject the core fighter is being used well here
- uso skydiving in with the save!
- that's pretty cool
- i love that katejina's in the crowd in uso's imaginary guillotining. shows she's still on his mind
- the fights in this show are all good
- new pilot alert! also it's a little funny that they're making sure to show most of the zanscare guys surviving
- oliver seems pretty whatever
- uso's doing so well for himself
Episode 9: Departure
- uso looks completely dead inside at the end of the previously on
- katejina just very politely asking to be let go is very funny to me
- the way asher and shakti keep running into each other is interesting. obviously they're related, but i don't know where exactly it's going with that
- asher's friends with the dog!
- oh, uso can't get back in the gundam in time
- he thinks katejina has just sided with asher
- oh, is she hearing out the ideological goals of zanscare?
- them figuring out uso is the pilot is genuinely super scary
- they're trying to be nice to these kids :(
- seeing these kids with guns is also very :(
- aw man uso getting in the robot sucks
- huh, katejina is trying to spy on them?
- uso launching the broken boots at asher is super good
- asher pushing his way out of the cockpit is also good
- and uso is left believing katejina has for real chosen to join asher
- this poor fucking kid
- and they have to abandon their home!!!!
Episode 10: Behold, the Shrike Team!
- oliver sucks
- jinn gehennam is a good gundam name
- i'm pretty sure league militaire does not mean holy alliance
- uso, you can't start questioning the names now, the fabric of reality will come undone!
- whole bunch of lore dumped all at once, gundam is back
- the karaoke cd is a cool bit of spycraft
- zanscare drama continues to be good
- uso is looking at creepshots of katejina :\
- haro can create bubbles and project video onto them???
- the scene where shakti and uso try to get in the victory without being seen is pretty funny, and their dynamic is cute
- everyone's mad at him, but he was right!
- everyone in zanscare being completely horrified at the idea of fighting a 13 year old is still good
- zanscare can't even imagine that the league would do something like just use child soldiers
- oh hey, it's the shrike team! in grunt suits, so i imagine they aren't long for this world
- shit, is this what happens when a mobile suit blows in this show??
- the score for this show is really well done
- karl's crying is genuinely very upsetting
- ohhh god tomino's writing an all woman squad
- dude! you're punching a 13 year old!!!! stop it!
Episode 11: Defense of the Shrike Team
- oh yeah, they have obligations to their farm animals
- the gm looks pretty cool 80 years down the line
- oh, more gundams! obviously a deeply evil machine, but i can't help but love the design
- the federation guy demanding they just go to space and not worry about the monarchists invading europe sucks even more than the old guy who forced uso to watch the guillotining
- uso's dad, huh
- everyone's so mean to him :(
- ok, suzy's an orphan but that doesn't mean uso should just pretend he is
- i wish it wasn't happening, but every single shrike team member leave after being groped to watch uso vs odelo like it's a cage match is pretty funny
- oh this lady rules. the tavern interrogation is amazing
- aww, odelo does care!
- yooo it's duker iq!!!
- super fascinating that they're calling them gundam knockoffs
- why is shakti planting seeds in the middle of this????
- oh, she is non-responsive
- oh rip shrike team member #1. i assume we'll get at least a few more deaths before long, though probably a few of them will last a while
- helen embodied the shrike, i guess. rip helen. i don't even think she got named before she died
- wait, i can't tell. did uso actually get the letter?
Episode 12: Let's Get Rid of the Guillotine!
- they're showing way more intrest in helen after her death than they did before it
- this show feels like it's taking the stuff i liked most from 0083 (really good music, lots of focus on the ground level people necessary to launch a mobile suit) and so far avoiding any of the egregiously bad stuff. though last episode did have the groping joke
- this copy doesn't have the most consistent subtitles
- i love the stuff with this pilot of the "neutral" plane
- this whole opening sequence was really great
- this poor guy
- oh my god, griffon on a motorcycle and she's dressed like it's the 1920s
- the kids, wide eyed, going "it hasn't been bombed yet!"
- the kids all meeting griffon and neither know who the other is!!! this rules
- this show is really good. the bar scene rules, i love griffon buying suzy the parfait
- she's being forced to put the guillotine in this town, huh?
- lmao at bespa just carting around the guillotine
- rip to fisherman guy. we're just layering on the trauma for uso
- i like the moves uso pulls with the core fighter
- griffon's a little tipsy
- i don't think the gundam actually showed up fully in this episode! when's the last time that happened?
Episode 13: Arti Gibraltar, an Empty City
- don't have much to say, still loving the setting details
- incredibly funny seeing asher go "...no fucking way it's the same kid"
- uso is so polite, i love him
- i'm enjoying the politics slowly unraveling here. kind of a constant in gundam
- this guy's being nice to uso and talking about his parents but forces them out as soon as they try to talk shop
- uso confronting griffon rules
- not a fan of the shrike team stuff. his head doesn't need to go in her tits! it isn't funny!
- mahalia's so doomed. at least she was named before this episode
- i like all this worrying about who shoots first because of the legal stuff
- yeah don't like this stuff
- the fight's good at least
- lmao at uso flying the victory around like this is macross
- i do love that they insist it's a fake gundam
- even griffon's taken aback by uso piloting the gundam, though she still tries to kill him
- rip mahalia
- god damn uso's having a time of it
Episode 14: Attack and Defense at Gibraltar
- the federation used to be de facto aligned with the league but now it's official?
- this funeral sucks. let them be buried seperately!
- i do like the ritual of the lipstick, even if it very much feels like gundam being like "women like lipstick, right?"
- katejina's plotline is super interesting and i don't know where it's going
- i get why the guy doesn't want to let them have their dead, but come on
- ok so uso did NOT get the letter earlier, but has it now
- i really like katejina here. this is good stuff
- shakti just. not wanting to go to space is such a good character thing
- katejina's right
- "use your abilities to be a blessing upon mankind" is a good line
- this fight is pretty boring
- lupe keeps needing to eject, it's a little funny
- the memedorza is cool
- rip kate
- i may just be stupid but i feel like that was the first time i heard the newtype flash sound effect
- cool, we're just gonna keep doing this
- lmao at asher hitching a ride. don't think that's how aerodynamics work
- uso's having the WORST time
Episode 15: Space Dust
- this anime is really pretty
- is the league militaire taking these guys hostage to make them launch the shuttle???
- odelo and warren are sneaking on, and uso and marbet are the ones launching officially
- legitimately very funny for marbet to go along with the hostage photos, good bit
- shakti getting the courage to go to space because she wants to help suzy is good
- oh right, katejina maybe is supposed to be in love with asher?
- no idea who asher was having surrender
- i really like the stuff with the ship worrying about debris. good stuff!
- oof, the captain getting hit with a space rock looked painful
- i love flanders climbing large haro
- uso spacewalk! this is good stuff
- the body language in the zanscare meeting is good
- i love all the stuff about them trying to protect the ship from debris
- uso trying to help this guy is also very good
- griffon gets 3 days of food and oxygen and is just kicked out the airlock
- uso's a good kid
- kasarelia!
Episode 16: Reinforce Takeoff
- the vibes are incredible
- it's duker iq!!!
- the password was 12343, good job shakti
- duker iq survives yet another fight, this one isn't interesting beyond the introduction of aquatic mobile suits
- on the one hand it's a little disappointing they got a proper battleship, but on the other hand this is a cool moment that lets them actually go to space
- they got pulled over by the cops (some zanscare people)
- all the discussion of international law is really good
- i love that everyone in zanscare is so immediately sympathetic to uso and are horrified to learn he's the gundam pilot.
- oh good, more kids. despite the above point, they are totally willing to take hostages
- this escape is pretty good
- i like the airbags
- again, a bespa soldier realizes he's fighting a child and is horrified
- karlmann and flanders in mobile suits!
- pretty good episode, but it's all been done before
Episode 17: The Queen of the Empire
- it seems like most of east asia is a desert??
- are they just cultists? this seems like a cult
- duker iq in a wig!!
- BIKE BASED LAND DESTROYERS!!!!!
- oh, we're getting a recap episode. ok
- i don't hate seeing this fight again
- the narrator explaining what the state of the earth sphere is is nice
- is everyone just lying to maria here?
- this show is so pretty
- he's really hyping asher up
- eyepatch guy looks evil, but he's right that the league militaire seem to have no real problems with using uso as a child soldier
- space age warring states is such a cool concept, i hope we see more of it in the future
- maria is very naive about the neutrality of corporations
- i love that they're all like "we gotta help this uso kid!"
- this does still seem culty, but she seems nice
Episode 18: Battle of the Space Fleets
- the earth federation has once again abandoned spacenoids at the first sign of trouble
- oh good, we're going to have romance stuff between odelo and warren and the new kids
- glad to see asher without the mask
- spoke too soon
- way too cool a launch sequence to be given to oliver
- urghhh
- i like the green zoloat
- i love the stowaways in normal suits
- uso: kids shouldn't be out here!
tomache: you're younger than we are!
- urghhhhghg, the romance is not well done
- uso's barely keeping it together
- uh-oh, the stowaways have been launched out
- i was going to say this wasn't really a fleet battle, but here's the league coming in with reinforcements
- everyone's just chill with the 13 year old piloting
- jim gehennam is very disappointing
- more bad romance to cap things off
Episode 19: The Search for Shakti
- the stoaways got picked up by zanscare
- remembering the last time a little girl was picked up by the enemy faction and hm. weird vibes all around
- jim gehennam wants to attack them before they can build a big laser to attack earth with
- shakti's seeds...
- the kids will pilot their own ship, the fishbone. glad to see they won't just be with the fleet from now on
- oliver is the worst
- *gasp* shakti is related to maria?? would never have guessed
- the kids running off to find shakti is good
- the vibes are great. this music over the mobile suits slowly moving, trying to save a friend stranded in space
- uso is having the worst time of any character in this franchise
- odelo trying to save everyone himself like a dumbass
- i love the dummy balloons
- this is pretty tense. it's unlikely anyone will die here on the main characters side, but you never know
- the shrike team rushes in to save them
- they avoid punishment because everyone feels bad about having conscripted so many 13 year olds for the war effort
- remembering the last time a little girl was picked up by the enemy faction and hm. weird vibes all around
Episode 20: The Eve Before Battle
- jim gehennam is like the one remnant from the ordinary kids show version of this
- oh is another shrike gonna die today?
- uso is not ready for space combat
- the way the explosions cast shadows on uso's face is really cool
- not a fan of the romance in this show, it all sucks so far
- uso fighting with the sensors down is good
- so far this show is way better than most other gundams about making the episode to episode fighting feel mostly distinct
- happy to see katejina meeting suzy and shakti, hope this goes somewhere good
- they have signs in the hangar saying "take a break for the next act"
- i don't think junko seems particularly suicidal, i think oliver might just be an overbearing asshole
- i thought for a second haro playing the junko images would be way creepier, though it still sucks
- microwaves are bad
- the overhang cannons are here! they look neat
- this sure is a big space battle
- gundam ja nai!
- i like marbet, but all her stuff with oliver sucks so bad
- gruesome corpse with a shattered visor, that's fun
Episode 21: The Strategic Satellite
- odelo shut the fuck up
- i do like the name junko jenko a lot, that's really good. be a shame when she dies later this episode
- oliver sucks so bad
- is uso having newtype visions of the enemies dying screams, or was that guy just broadcasting on an open channel
- odelo and warren arguing about masculinity and who's more girl crazy is clearly intentional but i still don't care for it
- the victory with dual pistols is very good
- uso is so fucking traumatized
- bringing out new weapons so they can sell the weapon pack i guess
- i like junko
- uso pulls off a pretty sick move there, hitting the beam he fired earlier
- wish asher would just not wear the mask now that he's in space
- i like seeing the different commanders going "why would i put on a normal suit, i plan on winning!" and then the next time we see them they're in normal suits
- i always think it's neat when they go to man to man ship invasion fighting
- the entire shrike team misses asher here
- i was 100% convinced junko was gonna die there, but i'm happy she didn't
- i love katejina
- uso's so happy to hear shakti's ok.... this definitely won't last
Episode 22: The Tiger of Space
- they're looking for survivors
- come on, he was surrendering!
- the reinforce jr, huh
- love it when adults are forced to confront the reality of gundam. they almost all try to help uso in their own way
- maybe nevermind, he's still fighting. but at the same time he's trying to give uso life advice
- i like the beam scythe
- wait this one just has a guy named trans? lmao
- wish this show could just have older woman be chill with uso and not be horny about it
- glad the kids are leaving THAT behind
- come on. christ. why this
- they found their parents! yay!
- the score here is great
- the newtype flash again! pretty confident that just hasn't shown up in anything until this show (unless it's in the movies?)
- uso is pretty tricky
- godwald trying to hijack the victory is a cool way to go
- uso has finally been forced to kill someone (someone he knew!) outside a mobile suit. unless that happened already and i just forgor
Episode 23: Infiltration of Zanscare
- uso creating a bunch of rocks to use as camoflage
- martina is sick, so they're infiltrating zanscare. i like it!
- their camoflage is working against them, since now zanscare is worried about an asteroid collision and is trying to blow them up
- uso's having trouble despite there only being 2 enemy suits? i sense an upgraded victory coming his way
- took them a bit but they weren't fooled by the dummy suits
- this kid can't be that much older than uso
- uso managed to nonlethally defeat both of them (by taking one hostage, but that's just details)
- love it when gundam has to deal with the colony rotation and all that orbital mechanics
- flanders is falling off haro!!! noooo!!!!!
- just like spacenoids must adapt to survive on earth, earthnoids have to adapt to get to space
- the victories hand is so much smaller than previous gundams
- oh, it's the weird bug robot from the op
- he wants to prove minority built weapons of war are just as good at killing
- they probably would have won the war if this guy didn't insist on this. destroying a gundam probably earns you a slot in some limited production release even if you don't show off all the features
- that's a good newtype flash
- the music manages to make the bug kneeing uso in the dick over and over again feel tragic and hopeless
- *superintendent chalmers voice* and you call it a rifle despite the fact that it is very obviously a pistol
- haro's screaming in pain :(
- these soldiers look so young
- also uso could probably end the war real quick if he just flew in there with the victory, i bet that'd work
- the taxi is trying to recruit uso for the military, so clearly the age thing is intentional
- IT'S FLANDERS!!! AND SUZY AND KARLMANN!
Episode 24: Attack the Capital
- this title would be exciting it there weren't another 27 episodes to go
- ohhh, the woman last episode was maria going incognito
- this meeting scene is very sad, shakti looks so uncomfortable
- i think katejina's development has been super interesting, and i'm excited to see more. also her in the suit is a good look
- asher's a feminist, but kind of in the same mold as scirocco
- uso's sad about his friend leaving him :(
- i mean she doesn't want to, but he's 13 and can't see her
- oh this is a full on police state
- i like gomez
- haro plays machine gun noises while running making all the cops fall to the ground like they just heard about fentanyl
- uso got distracted thinking about shakti and gets fucked up by a bug
- oh man haro got fucked up
- they're attacking zanscare's capital to draw away zanscares main forces because they're beating the federation
- oh, it's the same bug from last time, just fixed up because uso didn't do anything other than cut off its limbs
- lmao the gundam is chained up
- they only tied his arms up so he just detatched. very funny
- asher needs to take his dumb mask off
- oh good marbet is there to help
- uso!!! don't just assume that because you're looking for your parents shakti is looking for hers!!!! you're only going to make the both of you more sad!!!
- oh, is haro going to make it?
Episode 25: Infiltrate the Enemies Fleet and Land
- more vaguely freudian stuff with the shrike team, and i guess uso is heading right back in
- i really like asher's contio
- i have no clue if the show is going somewhere interesting with katejina or not and i've been on edge about this since like episode 6
- i love a good group launch sequence
- rip peggy, she got a name and character this episode
- the bits in this show rule
- this show is super pretty
- wait, this guy's a fake jinn gehennam? didn't see that coming
- peggy could not possibly be more doomed
- oh her pants got singed, i don't think we've seen that happen before
- they just launch the bits into the hangar that's cool
- shut the fuck up oliver
- i'm amazed peggy's still alive. uso can still feel guilty about her injury, maybe she doesn't need to be fridged?
- this is a risky plan
- uso gets caught but since he's 13 they all assume he's just a normal kid until asher notices him
- maria protects him because he's shakti's friend, but peggy busts in and starts blasting
- holy shit, we reached the end of the episode and peggy didn't die!
-
Episode 26: Maria and Uso
- asher is totally cool with killing his sister/queen
- oh rip peggy
- at least she died to a major character, she wasn't totally chumped
- zanscare is so focused on keeping people in that when they find the kids trying to break in they just shove them in farther
- uso and marbet in jail together, uso is the most traumatized mecha boy imaginable
- uso is surprisingly good at zero g martial arts
- ohh katejina
- shakti sneaking out with a bedsheet rope
- they're bringing uso to see shakti?
- the whole thing with the guy fixing up the victory is very funny
- maria gives uso a bag of sweets, incredibly weird vibes
- maria you're the queen, why are you not aware of the guillotine policy?
- shakti got uso a message!
- wait, maria has jesus powers?
- and now they're neaking shakti out
- very funny they just have an ordinary guillotine
- incredibly funny that they're guillotining tassilo first
- KATEJINA????
Episode 27: The Light of Outer Space
- katejina's mobile suit rules
- oh jesus katejina, what's up? she's a real true believer, huh?
- ohhh lord tomino has takes on liberal feminism
- uso: having a good time!
- marbet encouraging more collateral damage
- new federation suits and a new gun-ez variation?
- oh christ i thought junko died for a second
- oh they're using zanscare's super weapon agaainst zanscare's civilians? probably shouldn't have expected better
- hmm. not sure about the design of this cannon
- shakti's newtype visions are upsetting
- junko realizing how fucked up it is that they rely on uso ever means she's gonna die
- really good character animation of uso licking his lips
- rip junko, i didn't need to see her tits but whatever
- they keep making uso participate in the deaths of millions!! it keeps happening!!
- rip all those guys i guess. at least uso didn't just kill millions? hopefully?
- shakti feeling as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced
Episode 28: The Great Escapade
- lmao the last episode ended with them destroying the fleet but now they've been captured i guess
- odelo looks so bored at being held at gunpoint
- uso is fine farming in a forced labor camp. better than being outside the forced labor camp, killing thousands every day
- old guy is mad they stole their weapons. you're a pow!
- oh christ marbet and oliver are getting married an episode after junko died
- this show keeps hanging out around the line of the older women's attitudes towards uso being creepy. this is creepy
- haro's been fixed!
- this is very funny
- oh my god they have the general grievous wheel bike things
- AND THEY'RE FLYING THEM THROUGH SPACE
- trying to grab shakti
- gross, they trick the guards into thinking they're dumb kids who just want to watch the newlyweds fuck
- prison break!
- these wheels rule
- uso has become surprisingly politically insightful
- this chase is really good
- uso's a newtype so they don't kill him for some reason
Episode 29: The New Mobile Suit, V2
- i like that they announce the new suit in the title
- seeing all these kids in spacesuits getting in a gunfightis giving me be invoked flashbacks
- rip to that other guy whose name i don't remember since he was only introduced last episode
- lupe cineau rules
- incredibly funny that they all agree to pretend the reinforce was never there because no one wants to argue about who fucked it up
- oh wait i guess he survived? ohh, only his wheel blew up
- i always forget this is the gundam for kids until they have flanders and haro go on a mission to rescue uso
- UH OH RED ALERT. THIS FUCKING SUCKS WHAT THE FUCK. DOGSHIT SCENE
- HAHA COMEDY PEDOPHILE IN THE BATH WITH USO CHASING HIM WHILE HE'S NAKED
- oh good and they steal his underwear. this fucking sucks
- lupe cineau does not rule i take back everything nice i said about her
- on the other hand haro and flanders successfully rescue uso. these guards are so fucking dumb
- haro is the best character in this show
- uso's flying through space in a soap bubble??
- ohh katejina is crazy
- haha everyone sees this childs dick very funny
- god the v2 looks sick
- its engine exhaust looks like wings and can cut other mobile suits in half?? this rules
- i don't fully get that core fighter strategy, but i can't argue with results
- they were hiding that his mom built the gundams????
- this is what makes shakti pro gundam?
- this episode was a fucking mess
Episode 30: Mother's Gundam
i had a writeup for this episode but it got deleted somehow. luckily it's a recap episode, so mostly i just talked about the revalation that uso was being trained as a child soldier by his parents???
Episode 31: Motorad Takeoff
- how come oliver gets a v2 but marbet doesn't?
- i appreciate suzy's comments on womens work
- uh oh, shakti's investigating on her own
- god the new suits look sick as hell
- tomache's dad is a bad father! don't let your kid do this!
- what did shakti expect? she probably shouldn't be leaving ever
- the petit mobile suits rule
- shakti and uso are good characters, which makes a lot of the more frustrating parts of this show less so
- i need a hguc einerad. or a master grade
- uso's mom is so fuckign doomed
- this is a pretty good fight
- huh, wasn't expecting oliver to die before marbet
- i feel bad for marbet
Episode 32: Pressing Doggorla
- don't stop carry on isn't as much of a banger, but it's fun
- dodgore pilot mohawk is not long for this world
- the guitar wah wah after the mobile suit crash got me, this show can get super goofy
- god damn that's an ugly mobile armor
- marbet keeps saving tomache and odelo in really cool ways
- i'm glad marbet finally gets to be cool
- aw shit odelo's been launched off
- christ, odelo's dying
- the workers trying to gum up the mobile suits is funny
- rip doggorla
- i don't get why people cared about oliver tbh. i thought uso was gonna be like "you saved them, you didn't use them as shields! you kept putting yourseld in harms way for them!" but instead we get all this stuff about olivers legacy
- this fuuneral is kinda sick though
- i'm a sucker for a good insert song
- this ed is no winners forever either. pretty solid though, sounds like the op to a 7/10 shonen adaptation in the late 2000s
Episode 33: People Who Dwell In The Sea
- the pacing in this show is fucking insane. i start every episode feeling like i missed the last 5
- now they're heading back to earth
- uh oh, a shrike team member had a line within the first minute of the show
- god damn the v2 is cool
- atmospheric reentry fights are always good
- i love them getting used to gravity again
- they have underwater conveyor belts? that rules
- tomache and odelo are both very stupid
- they go up to local shops and say "can we get candy as a treat for our child soldiers"
- uso is right that shakti should probably stop running off, but this isn't the best way to go about it
- oh, katejina got brought in by a cult
- uso, you were betrayed but also this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't done all that
- good job, the league just destroyed a city together with all it's inhabitants
- god damn it's like they're trying to kill everyone
- i guess it's good that they stopped the spy?
- zanscare aren't the ones polluting here!!! that's you!!!! you did that!!! and killed thousands of innocent people!!!!
Episode 34: Operation Giant Roller
- the gunblaster looks like a tiny kshatriya
- yayy we get to see odelo piss himself for some reason
- cool old lady in a biplane
- gundam loves underwater combat but i just don't think it's that cool
- popping every time duker iq shows up. having duker iq automatically makes this show better than zeta
- odelo and tomache managed a cool fight!
- holy shit that is a massive motorcycle
- rip mizuho
- this is an amazing way to make shakti a willing participant in all this
- ohh right if they blow up a mobile suit whatever's left of the city blows
- uh oh uso saw his mom
- dang the bikeships are called lysitheas.... just like fire emblem
- uso is finally willing to blow up mobile suits
- i'm amazed connie hasn't died yet
- and it was all for nothing
- poor uso (could be said about most frames from this show, but is about him having to let them leave with shakti + his mom)
Episode 35: Mother or Shakti
- oh rip uso's mom
- the lysitheas look like zeon ships, way more than the rest of zanscares stuff. on the other hand, the reinforce jr has saiyan armor
- the prisoner has an extremely interesting chat with this lady whose name i'm not confident has been said before. the political situation is all being told in the background, which is a fascinating way to tell a story but makes for an incredibly weird viewing experience
- lmao at them leading him out of his cell to the hangar so he flies off with odelo in the cockpit
- uso's in the victory and tomache was in the gunblaster
- this guy is so fucking dumb
- uso and odelo shouldn't be sticking their heads out, but i can't blame them
- man, zanscare is also recruiting children? that one guy from episode 6 would be so disappointed
- uso's mom rules
- haro is stone cold, ready to kill for the cause
- god they really make you feel each ship exploding
- this is a really pretty show
- shakti!! you aren't going to convince asher to stop being a weird monarchist!! it just isn't gonna happen
- uso and odelo doing their best to convince the zanscare soldiers they'll kill shakti is a good bit
- uso's mom is so fucking dead dude
- she should kick asher in the balls before he kills her
- haro just knocked a guy out on command like a fucking pokemon
- is odelo supposed to be the kai of this show? this little plot about his crush being a huge zanscare loyalist is weird
- uso's mom chose a good way to go there
- poor poor uso
Episode 36: Mother Returns to the Earth
- oh, odelo and tomache are part of the shrike team? bet they don't die pointlessly
- what does pippiniden mean about goz barl? what actions will he take?
- ok so goz barl is surrendering to the league militaire and taking uso's mom with him. i assume this is the plan, but it would be very funny if it wasn't
- if i was uso's mom i would not get into the mobile suits hand. i would demand to be in the cockpit
- they're going to hold her hostage, huh
- god damn that's an apocolyptic amount of water
- yeah, rip uso's mom
- this eyecatch is far too jaunty for a show like this
- katejina and asher are both very idealistic, huh
- YOU CANNOT ASK A 13 YEAR OLD TO BE A GOOD SOLDIER AND NOT CARE ABOUT HIS MOTHER DYING
- rip uso's mom
- oh that helmet was not empty
- they signed a federation cease fire?
- christ, uso
- the earth federation government on the moon signed the treaty
- OH THAT HELMET ISN'T EMPTY
- jesus. uso....
Episode 37: Counterattack of the Twinrad
- uso immediately starts the episode off with a warcrime
- they get to go back home! this won't lead to any new trauma!
- duker iq's partner WAS hiding in there
- i love them using the mobile suits for fishing
- THE LITTLE SPEECH BUBBLE WITH THE CRAYON DRAWING IS ADORABLE
- the spacenoids hating the way things smell on earth is such a good detail, i love all this shit
- THE UNDERWATER MOTORCYCLE SHIP LAUNCHING MISSILES WHILE THEY FISH???
- this fight is all pretty good but seeing the v2's legs just standing there
- that's a lot of bones
- uso, becoming an environmentalist is cool but idk that you're innocent!
- the 2 spacenoid girls having a panic attack over the smell of the corpses is a good scene but it would be a lot better if the show had less gender
- setting off a nuke in the middle of the ocean is hardly going to help the environment
- i'm not sure about this shows environmental politics but it's at least interesting in terms of how the characters think and act
- lmao at the gunblaster wearing the whale skull
- the mobile suit mouth is sick
- why does uso even need legs?
- rip enemy mechanic lady
- love it when the gundam characters yell KOCHIRO
- uso: world's saddest gundam boy
- the comedy stuff isn't great but this was a good episode
Episode 38: The North Sea Begins Burning
- rip duker iq's partner renda, who is sketching an idyllic cabin in the woods
- oh no, rip duker iq too. he wants to live with her. and he gave her his mothers necklace!
- marbet is 100% pregnant
- elischa is hiding in the gunblaster with odelo, and pinches him for belittling women when he makes a period joke. this show is constantly on a knifes edge with its gender politics
- odelo was gonna ask her out, but they encounter an einrad before that can happen
- i'm kind of coming around on their relationship tbh, this is kind of sweet even if it's still based in some shitty stuff
- is renda supposed to be sicilian? she just yelled "THIS ONES FOR SICILY!" what happened to sicily?
- this show is really pretty
- this episode is doing a lot to make me like odelo as a dumb kid
- it's a motorcycle ambush!
- warren frantically putting new floppy disks in is beautiful. true cinema
- god the v2 is so cool. "He's disrupting the sea's flow!"
- and duker iq completely trusts renda
- oh shit, odelo had a plan!
- huh, i wasn't expecting renda to survive that
- nevermind, odelo just got her and duker iq together
- oh my GOD. the insert song as duker iq and renda ride off into heaven? this show rules actually
Episode 39: The Song of the Wings of Light
- god damn odelo is pumped about the whole girlfriend situation
- maybe i'm just in a better mood after a break, but these comedy bits aren't nearly as bad as they used to be
- thank you for the flashback to uso's mom dying
- warren has negative game. i guess i would have said that about odelo too until it worked out for him
- warren you are 13 you do not need to worry about marriage
- the zanscare guy is interrupted by shakti singing and remembers his wife and kids
- the ocean exploded :(
- uso brings out his paraglider to get into the v2!
- the wings of light are so fucking sick
- yet another zanscare guy fighting to preserve the colonial fantasy
- uso is feeling weird about how easy it is to kill these people
- god damn that's a lot of boots
- this show is good at making the explosions have an impact
- holy shit the wings of light are so cool
- that funeral T^T
Episode 40: Under The Super Aerial Attack
- some sort of possibly mystical bells wake karlmann (and then everyone else) up
- uso heads out to assist the white ark in making it back to space, but the daughters of the guy from the last episode are pissed at him
- warren and odelo were planning to sneak in to meet up with elischa and martina? cool
- this show is really good at building up a mood
- oh hey it looks like zanscare successfully set up the space laser. who'd have thought
- you can tell this was a pre porygon show
- this laser attack is really pretty
- after seeing uso pilot the v2 the family REALLY doesn't trust him now
- but once he shows them his grave they start grieving
- this episode has especially strong direction for this show
- i love the wings of light staying as an afterimage for a bit
- yet another incredibly cool zanscare suit, this one on a hoverboard with halos of light
- this is clearly a newtype thing
- it leaves to fight another day
- all the kids decide to join the white ark for this final arc in space
Episode 41: The Battlefield Created By Father
- it's been a month! i got pneumonia! i don't remember what happened last time, and am just going off of the notes i took
- very greatful for the last time on showcasing that sick zanscare suit. it's such a shame this show has so few modern kits
- the vibes of this show are incredible, this battle is so pretty and the music is incredible
- thought there'd be another women shriked but the wings of light come in with the save
- this is the coolest newtypes have been since 0079
- FUALA GRIFFON????? this shit is getting into mysticism and i love it
- i like that haro is now just r2d2
- more shitty romcom stuff
- i love the music playing during the reveal of the league militaires fleet. makes it so ominous
- his dad is just saying hi like it hasn't been years and his wife didn't die a little bit ago. he sucks
- uso agrees thankfully
- all the other kids saying "kakkoiii!!!" in unison is cute but like. come on.
- the one grunt making the sign of the cross as fuala griffon passes is so good
- ok they just have the death star briefing scene but for the angel halo, "many noble sacrifices" included
- and the kids are now officially soldiers
- he fucked lupe cineau up!
- this is some gendo ikari shit
- the battle rages
Episode 42: Fresh Blood Swirls in the Light
- the first thing that happens in this episode is uso singing odelo and tomache's praises, so i assume they're dying now
- shakti and uso talking about how they experience the bells is very cool
- lupe cineau in a fancy dress for some reason?
- ok she's reporting on this. the guy in charge of fuala griffon and the angel halo is in fact the guy sentenced to guillotine a while back which was just a cover for him doing this stuff. this show is super complicated, i'm sure the 7 year olds watching this understood everything happening very well
- i'm still unsure why she was wearing that dress
- ok so she was manipulating him. and they're about to attack the guys with the angel halo
- sick looking mobile armor
- the fight is very cool
- this is definitely the most like 0079 the newtype stuff has been
- the redhead shrike pilot has a cool nu gundam type beam shield thing
- her suit explodes and now she's surfing through space on it
- i love the focus on her this battle, this is so cool
- oh awesome we're getting more lupe cineau weird shit
- this show would be a lot better without the pedophilia plotline
- rip lupe cineau, she killed pippiniden or whatever his name was. that's cool
- i didn't need the flashback thank you
- fuala griffon and the other guy are definitely out next episode
- this show has some high highs but dang
Episode 43: The Battlefield Comet Fuala Griffon
- rip fuala griffon
- they built the angel halo out in jupiter and transported all the parts back to earth so it could quickly be assembled
- you have a bad dad uso, you should probably get used to it
- everyone is mad at uso for being childish. he's 13!!! let him be!!! he's right to be mad, and he isn't actually doing anything beyond complaining!!!
- fake general revil is the only person who thinks it might be a problem that uso's dad keeps intentionally alienating him. and even he isn't mad about it, he just thinks it's a bad idea because it'll piss uso off
- USO'S DAD TOOK HIM PARAGLIDING WITHOUT A HARNESS?????
- victory has ideas about gender but they're so much more interesting and messy than zeta, which i just don't like
- fuala griffon is really good here. love a good sicko
- her jumping out the suit to talk to uso is really cool
- ok fuala griffon is elaborating on the zanscare stuff which means she's extra dead
- i love her plan here, and she just shoots the spare pilot
- uso just launches a million boots at her, which is cool but not as cool as her thing
- and the white arc is heading into enemy territory, towards the angel halo
- shocked fuala lived tbh
Episode 44: Love is at the End of the Light
- their plan is to just tie up the mechs, say they're salvage they're shipping to the angel halo and get an escort. and it works because they're all children
- this dude asking the lady to bear his child is a weird beat, and all the girls are just congratulating her
- shakti just psychically knows that marbet is actually pregnant
- this is incredibly 40k, thousands of newtypes being used to power an angel halo
- very funny that the kids are so excited about those 2 getting together considering they're almost certainly going to kill them.
- uh oh, maria can sense shakti in the halo
- fonse kagatie is so full of shit. talking about "peace waves" and whatever
- whoops, the guy who let them in is onto them
- uso is very lucky this guy doesn't use his massive mobile suit gun to shoot him
- well rip to that guy
- oh dang he's alive and captured
- she thinks he's dead though! i can see where this is going
- oh no shakti is trying to talk to her mom again, and we know they want to use her as the pilot of the angel halo
- this is a dumb dumb plan
- it looks like he's flying in formationwith the kids and they assume he's dead, so he's so fucked
- you're calling him your lover but he apparently only asked you to let him hit earlier that day
- and they killed each other. rip
- this show is really focused on reproduction, in some really weird ways
- this is a fairly well done gundam tragedy though, so i can't complain too much
- shakti was captured, presumably until the finale
- but now she's trying to order people around, which is good
Episode 45: Uso Dances With Illusions
- these titles are getting pretty ominous, huh?
- we're going to see the angel halo get used? and there's still 6 episodes left, will wonders never cease
- kagatie is the most obviously evil advisor i've ever seen
- uso is flashing back to peaceful times with shakti, in what are mostly clips from early episodes
- so this is what the angel halo does. not what i expected, but pretty neat!
- the problem is that uso was raised to be a child soldier and so has no truly peaceful memories to flashback to. he keeps remembering his mom teaching him how to throw knives and stuff
- gross shot of warren and odelo peeping on shakti that's DEFINITELY new
- why's this only effecting uso like this?
- remember when oliver destroyed the only other v2 in a pointless suicide attack?
- uso is having a bad time
- but obviously he pulls through
- ok, so shakti's gonna have to control this thing because it's too much for maria
Episode 46: Tassilo's Revolt
- buster v2 looks cool. in general the v2 is one of my fav gundams, and victory has some of the best suit designs
- one of the main leaders of the enemy faction starting a civil war in the final episodes? i've never seen that before
- trying to get shakti into your big mind control ray seems like a big risk!!!
- fuala is so good. perfect sicko
- yeah shakti is not a fan of the angel halo
- shakti stole his gun!!!! and shot him!!! she immediately regrets it, which is fair, but hell yeah!
- this scene is really good. were they brainwashed? is that why katejina changed so quickly?
- "the shrike team's numbers have increased, there's no need to worry." there aren't enough episodes left to kill all of you one by one, so some of you might actually survive
- this is some of the best large scale battle raging in gundam
- the angel halo puts everyone on earth to sleep
- tassilo makes his sudden yet inevitable betrayal
- oh god the angel halo is an age regression machine
- taking maria as hostage is a smart play, given his main opposition is her brother
- for someone i didn't care about 5 episodes ago tassilo is a lot better at this than glemmy was. it won't end well i'm sure, but he's not doing terribly for himself
- and fuala griffon's got him on the ropes for the cliffhanger!
Episode 47: Woman's Battlefield
- there are a lot of people dying from the angel halo
- wait so they're simultaneously age regressing AND aging?
- someone should check the math, idk that it's true that they'll all regress into infancy. that feels sketchy
- so is shakti juat going along with this, or does she have a plan
- maria talking to uso is a cool scene, it's also fun to finally see tomino's true anti-adult ideology come to the front
- this fight manages to feel harrowing, which is impressive considering how cool the v2 is
- fuala loses because she can sense marbet's pregnancy and can't comprehend it
- no idea how uso's controlling the v1 like that
- rip fuala
- no idea what that stuff about her becoming a woman was. this show has some weird misogyny going on
- uso you are 13
- why is marbet so insistent she can't be pregnant? has tomino ever spoken to woman before?
- the sexual politics of this show are fascinating
- ok so shakti is just doing what she was told. ok
- this show has weird feelings about women but they're completely alien ones that no humna being has ever had, so it bugs me less than the standard misogyny of zeta
Episode 48: Vanquished Life, Blooming Life
- it would be cool if tomino made a show designed to be followed by people not taking notes. who the fuck are these guys?
- the battle sure is raging
- it's nice to see tassilo has a lot of faith in fuala. sadly she was overtaken by her womanhood and exploded
- it's all women's fault that kagatie could build the angel halo. cool
- rip maria
- if you shoot your hostage you have no leverage anymore
- rip tassilo
- "cleansed with fire. it's better to be cleansed with fire"
- katejina is the only person thinking straight here
- weird gender essentialism (woman create life while men can only either protect or destroy) aside it's nice to see everyone resting and uso not in the robot
- it's also nice of him to say "i hope your kid isn't forced to become a child soldier"
- karlman - ultimate newtype
- oh my god they're playing ball in space with haro!!!!
- the shrike team girls flirting is cute
- gender essentialism is core to this show
- i assume this is the final battle!
Episode 49: Above the Angel's Ring
ok neocities ate my liveblog of this episode. they rescue shakti, uso kills a bunch of bikini clad women in bazookas that katejina sent after him for some reason, told kagatie that adults should just have children and then die, and now the angel halo is on the earths surface and still broadcasting
Episode 50: The Battle Called Upon By Hate
- uso's dad is like "you must kill those 20 thousand people. they have it coming uso, don't worry about it."
- where the hell are the getting the memo that life began 35 million years ago? try 100 times that
- god damn, rip to the fleet
- chronicle gets yet another cool suit that will never ever get a kit
- rip jeanne d'arc
- the shrike team sends marbet away so they can die without her
- poor haro, left to guard the v2
- shakti goes to pray
- this song is a really cool effect
- katejina starts shooting the angel halo to make it stop and the shrike team thinks she's defecting and she kills them. cool
- katejina is doing great
- uso is once again very lucky his opponents don't just shoot him with their mobile suit gunds when he's on them
- incredibly cool that katejina's hair falls like that
- warren and tomache vs chronicle is so good. this show rules when it isn't bad
- the old men are sacrificing themselves with an insert song playing
- rip
- the angel halo disassembles itself
- katejina is doing some cool newtype shit and finally killing the last shrike team member
- oh she's delusional! i love her
Episode 51: The Ascension of the Angels
- uso's dad seems to be doing some james bond shit
- how'd the jeanne d'arc do that?
- tomache and odelo are really good considering how much odelo sucks
- this might be the coolest final battle in gundam
- rip odelo. that one got me :(
- uso fucked chronicle up and he just falls to his death, i think hitting his head on the angel halo
- kagatie is seeing maria's ghost
- tha angel halo is so cool
- katejina is really dedicated to killing uso, i would have given up dozens of episodes ago
- haro saves uso again
- the angel halo is dragging everyone up to space
- karlmann is now standing on his own and speaking in dhort sentences???
- katejina is still after him! she's like a slasher villain
- uso is doing g gundam shit with the wings of light
- and shakti is miraculously saved!
- it's after the war and everyone is visiting the graves of the fallen
- karlmann is toddling around and it's adorable
- katejina is still alive, but is blind and doesn't remember anything
- katejina is crying after shakti helps but makes her way to woowig
- and the victory gundams are rusting away on the mountainside
